Principal Software Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and delivery of AI-powered Windows experiences, focusing on intelligent agents, local/cloud AI, and agent orchestration. The role involves technical leadership, defining vision, and ensuring quality and responsible AI practices across multi-team initiatives.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and delivery of complex software systems that enable intelligent agent experiences across Windows.
  2. Define the technical vision and long-term architecture for capabilities spanning the Windows platform, local and cloud AI models, agent orchestration, platform services, and customer-facing experiences.
  3. Translate ambiguous customer and business needs into clear technical requirements, system designs, execution plans, and measurable outcomes.
  4. Partner with product management, design, applied science, security, privacy, and engineering teams across Microsoft to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences.
  5. Make sound architectural decisions and engineering tradeoffs involving performance, reliability, scalability, compatibility, maintainability, security, privacy, and time to market.
