Principal Software Engineer, AI Ads

Microsoft Microsoft · Big Tech · Mountain View, CA +1 · Software Engineering

Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft AI focused on AI-powered advertising. The role involves defining technical strategy and hands-on development of global, low-latency systems for shopping ads, travel, and product graphs. It emphasizes building scalable systems using information retrieval, distributed systems, LLMs, SLMs, and generative AI, while also advancing AI-native development through coding agents and agentic engineering. The role requires architectural decision-making, leading initiatives, and mentoring engineers to drive customer and business impact in AI-powered advertising.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the strategy, design, development, and optimization of global, low-latency shopping ads, travel, and product graph systems.
  2. Partner with scientists, engineers, and product leaders to turn research and prototypes into reliable production systems.
  3. Advance AI-native development through coding agents, agentic engineering, harness engineering, and vibe coding.
  4. Drive cross-organizational initiatives, make key architectural decisions, and identify opportunities aligned with Microsoft’s commerce and advertising strategy.
  5. Mentor engineers, raise technical excellence, and reshape AI-driven development workflows.
