Principal Software Engineer to lead and architect agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows within Global Technology Asset Management at JPMorgan Chase. The role involves designing and implementing AI-driven solutions to enhance delivery speed, code quality, and operational outcomes, while ensuring responsible AI use, security, and resiliency. This is an engineering role focused on scaling AI adoption in development processes.

What you'd actually do

  1. Architects and governs agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows (using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment) to improve delivery speed, code quality, and operational outcomes at scale (e.g., AI-driven PR review assistance, test generation/maintenance, release readiness checks, incident triage and root-cause acceleration), while defining guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, and reuse across teams.
  2. Design and implements secure, high quality, technical solutions written in Java; reviews and debugs code whilst owning and delivering end-to-end cutting-edge solutions leveraging the latest technologies and the best industry practices.
  3. Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.
  4. Support the products you've built through their entire life cycle, including production and incident management.
  5. Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.

Skills

Required

  • Expert knowledge of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Expert knowledge in developing, debugging, and maintaining code with modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Expert knowledge with server-side languages and frameworks (e.g. Java/SpringBoot)
  • Experience building solutions on at least one Cloud platform (e.g. AWS)
  • integration technologies (e.g. GraphQL, REST etc..)
  • NoSQL/SQL database technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL, TigerTigerGraph etc..)
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated experience designing and leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled development practices
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use and control expectations in engineering workflows
  • Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

Nice to have

  • Knowledge and experience with Python
  • Knowledge and experience with frontend technologies (e.g. Typescript / React)
