This role is for a Principal Subcontract Specialist at RTX, supporting the British Army Collective Training Transformation Programme. The role involves managing subcontractors and contracts, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and driving operational improvements. It requires strong analytical and communication skills, with experience in contract management and supplier engagement. The position is hybrid and requires eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC level).

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage Subcontractors / Suppliers with moderately sized contracts (£10 - £40m) with minimal oversight, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  2. Manage small projects or subcontracting processes with autonomy and accountability for delivery.
  3. Apply advanced knowledge of subcontracting practices to solve difficult and occasionally complex problems across multiple work areas.
  4. Management and negotiation of contracts, non-disclosure agreements and terms and conditions.
  5. Provide coaching and guidance to junior professionals, ensuring quality and consistency in subcontract execution.

Skills

Required

  • Practical knowledge of subcontract management, supplier engagement, and contract execution.
  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate mostly independently, engage and communicate across functions and make informed decisions.
  • Experience in managing subcontracting activities and contributing to planning.
  • Experience in coaching & guiding junior team members.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at an operational level.
  • Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC level)
  • Experience operating in joint or matrixed teams
  • Ability to communicate across military and industry partners
