Electrical Design Engineer for the Sentinel program, focusing on hardware design, component integration, and documentation within a defense context. Requires a Secret clearance and experience with CAD tools and industry standards.

What you'd actually do

  1. Incorporates edits and redlines to existing designs
  2. Facilitates ingest of supplier drawings into the Sentinel program toolset and workflow.
  3. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
  4. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
  5. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelors degree plus 5 years relevant experience, Masters degree with 3 years. PhD and 1 year relevant experience.
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • 1 year of experience in generating 3-dimentional CAD models of components and assemblies using tools such as Siemens NX
  • Familiarity with the application of industry standards for mechanical modeling and engineering release such as ASME Y14.2

Nice to have

  • Generating and releasing engineering artifacts into Product Lifecycle Management systems such as Siemens TeamCenter
  • Previous Sentinel experience
  • Existing SAP approval
  • Previous Department of Defense program experience in identifying and applying hardware design requirements from interface, compliance, and performance documents
  • Previous experience with Northrop Grumman hardware/mechanical design processes and principles, such as E110P and E275M

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
