Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer to join the Sentinel Launch Systems Infrastructure Facility Electrical Design (FED) Team in Roy, UT. The role involves system and/or equipment design for facility power systems and ground systems, including electrical system analysis, test procedures, and power architectures. Responsibilities include supporting design requirements, attending technical meetings, coordinating with integration teams, and performing research/evaluation of electrical systems. Requires a STEM Bachelor's degree, active Secret clearance, and experience with power system design software (ETAP, PSS/E, SKM, PSCAD), ground/facility/launch power systems, industry codes (IEEE, NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEC, UFC), and Revit. Preferred qualifications include experience with high-power/high-frequency systems, EMI/EMC, thermal management, and a P.E. license.

What you'd actually do

  1. Supporting design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion and distribution systems, and circuit protective requirements for ground systems including Electrical System Analysis, test procedures, power architectures, reports, analyses, and other power related deliverables.
  2. Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
  3. Working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
  4. Ensure appropriate coordination between facility electrical design and other integration teams.
  5. Integration and documentation of electrical systems design for the weapon system. Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree or 0 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
  • 5 years working experience utilizing power system design, and/or analysis software tools, such as ETAP, PSS/E, SKM or PSCAD.
  • 5 years working experience designing, troubleshooting (RCA) and/or implementing ground power systems, facility power systems and/or launch power systems.
  • Knowledge of industry/military codes and standards, including the IEEE, NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEC, and UFC.
  • Revit experience.
  • Experience with creating and executing to schedule & technical recovery plans.
  • Ability to meet program technical, cost and schedule milestones.

Nice to have

  • Experience with high-power and/or high-frequency systems, including power electronics.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.
  • Authorship and release of engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.
  • Experience maintaining and reporting status of program activities
  • Electrical Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
