Principal / Sr Principal Engineer Systems

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Warner Robins, GA +1 · Systems/Architecture/Test

This role is for a Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman's Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) organization in Warner Robins, GA. The engineer will be responsible for capturing and analyzing system-level requirements for the AAR-47 laser/missile warning system, tracking parts lifecycle, designing and testing electronic assemblies, performing schematic capture and layout, and collaborating with embedded software teams. The position requires a STEM degree and relevant experience, with a preference for experience in threat-detection systems and specific design tools. A Secret security clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Capture, analyze, and maintain system‑level requirements for the AAR‑47 laser/missile warning system.
  2. Track parts lifecycle, evaluate DMSMS risks, and propose mitigation strategies (last‑time‑buy, part‑in‑production, redesign).
  3. Design, prototype, and test electronic assemblies (PCBs, power modules, I/O interfaces, etc) for the system.
  4. Perform schematic capture, layout, and BOM generation using industry‑standard tools (Altium, Mentor, Cadence).
  5. Work closely with embedded‑software/firmware teams to define electrical interfaces, timing, and data‑link protocols.
