Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Guidance Navigation Control engineer to join their team in Palmdale, CA. The role involves performing navigation subsystem testing, understanding system requirements, developing specifications, and performing analysis. The candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team construct and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Experience with MATLAB, Python, GPS systems, and inertial sensors is required, along with an active Top Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform navigation subsystem testing
  2. Interface with strategy supplier partners
  3. Coordinate with team leads to ensure technical requirements are properly incorporated into design solutions, anomaly resolution amongst others.
  4. Understand navigation system requirements, develop statements of work, specifications and interface control documents, and provide technical guidance to the cross-functional team.
  5. Perform analysis at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of related engineering experience (Principal) or 8 years (Sr. Principal)
  • SW Tools: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Visio), Matlab, Python
  • General understanding of MIL-STD-1553, RS-232, RS-422, Ethernet or other data busses
  • Good understanding of the GPS system, the GPS Signal in Space characteristics, DGPS systems, inertial sensors, GPS/INS, GPS Anti-Jam integration
  • Requirements management, system integration, test plan development, and test execution of a navigation system
  • Proficient with MATLAB for data analysis purposes
  • Knowledge of navigation technologies
  • Preparing and presenting navigation system engineering materials during formal program reviews
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access
  • Ability to obtain and maintain subsequent SAP PARs
