Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer to support their Production Engineering and Operations organization in Iuka, MS. The role involves providing technical solutions to complex problems, supporting program manufacturing engineers, managing knowledge-based articles, driving new program actions, and supporting various software tools (PLM, SAP, MES/Solumina). The engineer will also develop metrics, support staffing plans, and aid in software training and testing. The position requires a STEM degree, significant engineering experience, active security clearance, and the ability to work in a manufacturing environment. This role is not remote.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support Program Manufacturing Engineers with Issues/Requests, including:
  2. Drive New Program Stand Up Actions
  3. Provide support for CPLM, SAP, and MES/Solumina software with manufacturing
  4. Conduct software enhancement request meetings with users and drive actions to completion
  5. Develop and maintain metrics gathering and reporting for MBM tools and software

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
  • 4 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, production, industrial, process, mechanical, aerospace, or aeronautics engineering (for Level 3)
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, production, industrial, process, mechanical, aerospace, or aeronautics engineering (for Level 4)
  • Experience applying manufacturing expertise to guide Engineering design for optimal producibility
  • Experience conducting tool design reviews to ensure feasibility and minimize assembly build times and costs
  • Experience identifying manufacturing processes and specialty tooling to enhance efficiency, quality, and ergonomics
  • Experience defining production build sequences, investigating non-conformance, and implementing corrective actions and producibility improvements
  • Experience providing liaison support to Engineering, influencing design for low-cost integrated assembly across electrical, hydraulic, fuel, fluid, and propulsion systems
  • Active U.S. Government Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR)
  • Ability to traverse units/products and operate effectively within a manufacturing/production environment
  • Experience with strict adherence to PPE protocols and occasional entry into confined spaces
  • Ability to maintain focus and productivity throughout extended work shifts (up to 10 hours)
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
