Principal/sr. Principal Structural Engineer

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Annapolis, MD +1 · Mechanical

Structural Engineer role at Northrop Grumman focused on performing linear and non-linear structural analyses of components and assemblies using hand-calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The role involves leading a small team of analysts and ensuring designs meet program requirements, schedule, and budget. Requires a BS/MS in Engineering with significant experience in structural analysis and proficiency in FEA tools like FEMAP/Nastran or ANSYS.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform linear and non-linear structural analyses of individual components and complex underwater assemblies using a combination of hand-calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and bolted joint calculations.
  2. Ability to lead a small team of structural analysts to support program’s analysis needs.
  3. Ensure that designs meet program requirements and are consistent with program schedule and budget objectives.
  4. The candidate must be able to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously, and comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.
