Northrop Grumman is seeking a Subsystems Engineer/Principal Subsystems Engineer to join their Avionics Integration Organization. The role involves installation, integration, and troubleshooting of aviation-related subsystems, component sub-systems, Sensor Management Units, and Data Recorders. Responsibilities include system integration, test development, documentation, troubleshooting complex issues, and serving as an interface between operations and engineering teams. The position requires a STEM degree, relevant engineering experience, and an active DoD Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. System integration, test development and execution of various types of complex avionics systems
  2. Create and develop documentation for system requirements and interfaces, including system engineering drawings and diagrams
  3. Troubleshoot systems to resolve complex issues, interact and coordinate with responsible Subsystems engineers responsible for sustaining subsystems
  4. Serve as an interface between the Operations & Test organization and the engineers
  5. Ensure Subsystems performance meets specified levels

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience (Principal) OR 8 years (Sr. Principal)
  • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience (Principal) OR 6 years (Sr. Principal)
  • PhD in a STEM discipline
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes
  • Experience with installation, integration and troubleshooting of aviation related subsystems
  • Experience with Ethernet and TCP/IP
  • Experience using mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Atlassian software development and collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)
  • Experience with concurrent hardware and software development
  • Experience with component selection for system development
