Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to develop and execute programs, analyze tooling and support equipment, recommend solutions for repair/rework, assess engineering drawings, generate complex engineering models and drawings, create 3D CAD models and BOMs, develop design concepts, lead DFM/DFA reviews, generate technical documentation, coordinate with suppliers, support prototype builds, research and design mechanical products and systems, analyze complex systems, solve obsolescence issues, manage schedules and risks, validate tooling, and perform functional analysis to translate customer requirements into hardware specifications.

What you'd actually do

  1. Analyze tooling/support equipment and recommend appropriate solutions for repair, rework, or alternative solutions using modern manufacturing methods.
  2. Assess, interpret, and recommend changes to engineering drawings.
  3. Generate complex engineering models and drawings
  4. Create and review detailed 3‑D CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX) models, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  5. Develop design concepts, criteria and engineering tasks for product development, production, integration and test.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience (Principal) OR 8 years (Sr. Principal)
  • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience (Principal) OR 6 years (Sr. Principal)
  • PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience (Principal) OR 4 years (Sr. Principal)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret / Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
  • Experience with CAD modeling (NX, CATIA)

Nice to have

  • Relocation assistance may be available
  • Travel up to 10% of the Time (or 25% as stated later)
  • Experience with SolidWorks
