Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to support new programs within the Space Superiority and Warfighting Division. The role involves supporting major program milestones, authoring data products, modeling mission-level elements, assessing vehicle operations, producing analysis, developing analysis tools, managing requirements, and handling interface management. A Top-Secret/SCI clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Supporting major program milestones and readiness reviews by developing technical content and summarizing them into presentations for key stakeholders.
  2. Authoring and providing input to program data products and other vital deliverables.
  3. Working with mission partners to accurately model mission-level elements.
  4. Assessment of a vehicle’s day-in-the-life and creation of design reference missions (DRMs).
  5. Producing miscellaneous analysis, such as propellant budget analyses, on-orbit fuel requirements, RF link budgets, and mission lifetime estimates.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience or Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience or PhD with 1 year of professional experience (Level 3)
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience or Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience or PhD with 4 years of professional experience (Level 4)
  • Experience in systems engineering to include architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements & interface management, hardware/software integration, and mission planning & execution
  • Experience working with a cross-discipline engineering team

Nice to have

  • Exposure to Northrop Grumman space vehicle design and production.
  • Experience working on Class B, C, or D Space Systems.
  • Experience with developing and presenting briefing slides to senior leaders and executive level personnel.
  • Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience in system architecture, CONOPs development, or model-based system engineering.
  • Experience in scripting languages and modeling tools (e.g. Python, STOL, MATLAB, STK, etc).
  • Experience in orbital mechanics, orbital debris modeling, spacecraft attitude control, power systems and modeling, avionics or digital electronics design, risk analysis, communications, or spacecraft integration and testing.
