This role is for a Principal Systems Administrator at RTX, a defense company. The primary responsibilities include IT systems administration in a mixed Windows and Linux environment, troubleshooting technical problems, and obtaining necessary IT certifications. The role requires an active Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment.
  2. Experience with Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
  3. Working as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment. Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).
  4. Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
  5. Full time 100% Onsite position.

Skills

Required

  • University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux

Nice to have

  • Containerization Technologies such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Tanzu, and Rancher
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps
  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification)
  • NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF, data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions
  • Microsoft WSUS, MECM, and/or Exchange
  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment
  • VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods
