Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Architect Engineer to join their Systems Engineering organization in Melbourne, FL. The role involves developing system architectures, defining capabilities and performance requirements, setting design and technology maturity constraints, defining interfaces, and outlining implementation approaches and operational concepts. The candidate will analyze architectures and create DODAF or SysML Viewpoints, working on the Longshot team. This position requires a Secret clearance and experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define system architectures
  2. Architecture, CONOPS, and use case development using model-based systems engineering methodologies
  3. Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  4. Execution of trade studies to select from among multiple potential solutions
  5. Perform Systems Requirements analysis

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years of related experience OR Master of science Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of related experience (Principal)
  • Bachelor of science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline with 8 years of related experience OR Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of related experience or a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related experience (Senior Principal)
  • Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance
  • Foundation in Model Based Systems Engineering and Architecture Development

Nice to have

  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering
  • Applied knowledge of aircraft design
  • Experience in the military aerospace development environment
  • Experience with Cameo Magic Draw or another MBSE tool such as Rhapsody, Sparx EA, and Enterprise Architect
  • Experienced developing various DODAF view artifacts, especially Operational and functional viewpoints, using MBSE tools like CAMEO
  • Experience with Agile workflows
  • Knowledge of configuration management of model-based architecture baselines
  • Demonstrated communication and technical writing skills
  • Proven ability to brief technical presentations to both internal and external stakeholders
