Principal Technical Program Manager to lead a team of TPMs driving the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of Azure's fleet lifecycle and cloud expansion efforts, including Generative AI. This role partners across Engineering, Operations, and Compliance to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure platform capabilities, influencing the direction of Microsoft's cloud platform.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build, grow, and retain a high-performing, inclusive team of Technical Program Managers. Provide coaching, set clear expectations, and model Microsoft’s culture and leadership principles.
  2. Provide strategic direction to cross-divisional teams partnering with Software and Hardware Engineering to design and deliver scalable technical solutions across Azure service and infrastructure expansion.
  3. Drive cross-divisional alignment on success criteria, business impact (e.g., ROI, time-to-market), and roadmap execution, ensuring alignment across product and release plans.
  4. Oversee end-to-end program execution, including roadmap delivery, dependency management, project schedules, and staging and implementation plans; ensure teams are held accountable to governance processes and standards.
  5. Partner with Engineering, Data Science, and other stakeholders to define, track, and improve key performance metrics (e.g., reliability, efficiency, adoption), and drive data-informed decision-making.

Skills

Required

  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • 5+ years people management experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 15+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
  • 6+ years people management experience
  • 10+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and writing code
