Seeking a Privacy Counsel to advise on data protection, cybersecurity, and AI governance matters, partnering with legal, product, and engineering teams. The role involves conducting privacy and AI risk assessments, developing internal policies for responsible AI use, and monitoring emerging AI regulatory developments.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support product and engineering teams by conducting privacy and AI risk assessments for new features and launches, and embedding privacy-by-design principles into our product development processes
  2. Contribute to Datadog’s AI governance program, including developing internal policies and guidance on responsible AI use and monitoring emerging AI regulatory developments
  3. Support privacy compliance initiatives for customers in regulated industries, including healthcare and financial services
  4. Monitor and assess global privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and AI laws, conducting gap analyses and implementing requirements to ensure Datadog’s compliance

Skills

Required

  • JD from an accredited law school and an active U.S. bar membership
  • 3+ years of relevant privacy experience
  • Familiarity with SaaS and cloud infrastructure concepts and emerging AI technologies
  • Working knowledge of global privacy and cybersecurity laws, including U.S. state and federal privacy regulations, GDPR, and the EU AI Act
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable engaging with both legal and non-legal stakeholders across functions
  • Strong organizational skills and sound judgment, with the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and escalate effectively
  • Commercially minded and pragmatic, able to translate complex legal requirements into clear, actionable guidance
