Process Engineer

Rivian is seeking a Process Engineer to optimize manufacturing processes for their Drive Unit production, focusing on efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement. The role involves coordinating engineering changes, developing best practices, supporting production, and troubleshooting equipment. Requires a Bachelor's/Master's degree in engineering and experience in high-volume manufacturing, with a preference for automotive and drive unit production. Experience with Six Sigma, Lean principles, and production support equipment is also valued.

What you'd actually do

  1. Coordinate engineering changes and new program launches
  2. Review, interpret, and summarize statistical data to drive process improvement
  3. Determine the ‘Best Practice’ process approach of material, tooling, equipment, and labor process
  4. Develop work instructions, standardized work, process flow, and process documentation to ensure manufacturing process is being followed
  5. Support production teams through process and equipment related troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's/Masters degree in engineering discipline
  • 1+ years engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing operation
  • Hands-on experience with supporting production equipment (Mechanical, electrical, control systems, automation, robotics, etc.)
  • Experience in using 2D & 3D Modeling tools (AutoCAD, CATIA/ENOVIA)
  • Experience and/or Knowledge in DOE, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance, Torque Tooling, Error Proofing, and PFMEA
  • Experience and/or certification in Six Sigma DMAIC, Lean Assembly Principles, Time Studies using MTM or MODAPTS
  • Working knowledge in Excel, Word, Power point, and Outlook programs
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong team orientation and cross functional attitude
