Process Engineer for Amazon Logistics (AMZL) in Japan, focusing on standardizing and optimizing the last-mile delivery network. The role involves driving process innovations, developing equipment, creating infrastructure design standards, and managing cross-functional projects to improve safety, customer experience, productivity, quality, and cost.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and implement equipment and process solutions – Lead the design, piloting, and deployment of equipment and processes that measurably improve safety, ergonomics, operational cost, capacity, and throughput across AMZL Japan delivery stations.
  2. Drive standardization and documentation – Create, maintain, and improve design process standards to ensure consistency in equipment specifications and operational processes across the Japan network, enabling scalable deployment.
  3. Manage cross-functional project delivery – Lead multiple concurrent projects from concept through implementation, coordinating with stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, Tech, and external suppliers to deliver on time and within budget.
  4. Generate innovative solutions to operational challenges – Identify operational pain points through site visits and data analysis, then develop and validate creative engineering solutions that address root causes and deliver quantifiable improvements.
  5. Provide technical expertise and reporting – Serve as the technical subject matter expert for assigned areas, delivering regular progress updates and recommendations to leadership while ensuring alignment with network-wide engineering roadmaps and business objectives.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering
  • 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies and data-driven problem solving
  • Experience managing projects from conception to completion
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to use data to drive decisions
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English (business level)
  • Written and verbal communication skills in Japanese (JLPT N4+ level)

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
  • Knowledge of process improvement, ideally including Lean, Kaizen and Six Sigma
  • Experience working with material handling equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with OEM requirements
  • Experience working with multiple groups of stakeholders
  • Experience using modeling, project management, CAD and software programming tools
  • Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
  • Knowledge of safety standards and ergonomic design principles
  • Demonstrated ability to think big and challenge conventional approaches
