Process Engineer, Workforce Staffing

This role focuses on process engineering within Amazon's Workforce Staffing (WFS) team, aiming to optimize hiring workflows and reduce costs. While it involves driving AI/automation solutions to improve operational processes, the core function is process engineering and operational excellence, not direct AI/ML model development or research. The role emphasizes applying existing AI/ML tools and automation to enhance efficiency in a high-volume hiring engine.

What you'd actually do

  1. Evaluating metrics across WFS programs and regions to identify improvement opportunities and prioritize against benchmark performance gaps
  2. Analyzing end-to-end recruiting workflows (attraction through Day 1) to optimize processes and reduce cost per hire
  3. Driving AI, machine learning, and automation solutions that eliminate manual effort and enable scaling without proportional headcount growth
  4. Applying Lean, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, and capacity analysis to drive operational excellence
  5. Conducting tact time studies, process mapping, and resource modeling to identify constraints

Skills

Required

  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Experience in Lean methodologies
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data to drive process and system improvements
  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
  • Experience in automation creation and implementation of automated workflows
  • Experience driving AI capabilities and applying artificial intelligence or machine learning to improve operational processes
  • Experience engineering processes in both manufacturing and corporate environments
  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non tech teams in a global environment
  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering, process improvement, or operations management

Nice to have

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, AutoCAD and commercial off-the-shelf technologies such as Tableau, SQL, or equivalent
  • Experience in high volume recruiting, workforce staffing, or HR operations at scale
  • Experience with HR technology platforms (applicant tracking systems, HRIS, workforce management tools)
  • Experience with FMEA, control plans, COPQ analysis, or equivalent quality engineering tools
  • Familiarity with Amazon's writing culture and document-driven decision making
