Product Design Engineer responsible for managing global releases of diagnostic software, coordinating issue resolution, and providing customer support for automotive diagnostic tools. The role involves developing resolution plans, analyzing data, and collaborating with various technical teams to ensure software quality and performance for service technicians.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage all global releases of FCSD’s Integrated Diagnostic Software (IDS) dealership software application.
  2. Coordinate the timely resolution to diagnostic software issues preventing technicians from fixing customer vehicles. Often being able to identify key stakeholders responsible for root cause of the issue.
  3. Provide customer concern support to the Technical Assistance Centers (TAC) & Field Service Engineers (FSEs) and Software Verification Teams for software failure and/or data issues impacting customer vehicle performance.
  4. Oversee and sometimes lead development of detailed resolution plans for specific software bugs holding up technicians.
  5. Apply XML tools to develop/debug service procedures and analyze/debug back-end data quality.

Skills

Required

  • 2+ years’ experience working with automotive diagnostic scan tools
  • 1+ years of experience diagnosing IDS runtime ecosystem concerns and supporting servers/services as well as working level relationships with the tier 1 supplier who provides software.
  • 1+ years of experience with field concern triage process and contacts in place today supporting Ford dealership software tools.
  • 1+ years of experience with Ford diagnostic processes and procedures used by Ford technicians globally
  • 1+ years of experience with automotive network communication protocols – CAN, etc.
  • 1+ years of proven experience with software development & Data systems – basic understanding of software programming syntax and data systems interface

Nice to have

  • Associates degree or higher
  • Ability to communicate with various global software/data tool owners to motivate changes that relate to data, HMI and UX.
  • Auto dealership experience is a plus
  • Working level experience with Ford's JIRA software management tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills to meet goals and set priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
