Product Development Engineer Co-op role focused on the design and development of new, customized medical devices for orthopedic procedures, working with surgeons and sales teams, and utilizing CAD software. The role involves the entire engineering development lifecycle from conceptualization to release.

What you'd actually do

  1. Co-op will be responsible for the design and development multiple medical devices, and all supporting activities
  2. Co-op will participate in all aspects of the design process, including the identification of regulatory needs, developing design specifications, mitigating product risks, and building the engineering design history file
  3. Co-ops will independently own their individual instrument design projects, with the intent of releasing engineering for 8+ new instruments
  4. You will learn and utilize Creo parametric CAD to produce 3D models and drawings to company drafting standards
  5. Your projects will cover multiple disciplines and procedures necessary to support DePuySynthes J&J Trauma/CMF procedures
  6. Co-ops will regularly work with members of the DePuySynthes sales force and/or surgeons, R&D Engineers from other NPD teams, Manufacturing Engineering, and Design Quality

Skills

Required

  • Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering degree
  • Minimum G.P.A. of 3.0
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
  • Ability to work individually as well as on a team
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks

Nice to have

  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Proficient with CAD software (Pro-E, Creo, Solidworks, etc.)
