Product Development Engineer, Product Operations

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · Secaucus, NJ · Engineering

This role focuses on the product development and manufacturing launch of datacenter hardware, including server and rack systems. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet design standards, quality targets, and production timelines, driving new product introductions from concept through production.

What you'd actually do

  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with diverse teams (Engineering Design, Materials, Rack/Server Systems Program Management, etc.) to align design, materials planning, manufacturing, and quality efforts throughout the product development lifecycle.
  2. Design & DFM Reviews: Review design specifications, CAD drawings, and documentation to ensure compliance with design criteria, industry standards, and manufacturing capabilities. Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews to ensure products are optimized for efficient, high-quality production.
  3. Project Scheduling & Readiness: Develop and maintain project schedules and implementation readiness timelines to support on-time new product introductions. Communicate project status and readiness milestones to customer program management teams and internal stakeholders.
  4. New Product Introduction (NPI) Leadership: Drive NPI processes by facilitating and leading cross-functional problem-solving meetings with Design, Manufacturing, Test, and Quality Engineering teams. Proactively identify and resolve any design or production issues, ensuring smooth product launch and ramp-up.
  5. Technical Design Reviews: Establish and lead regular development review meetings to deepen technical understanding and coordinate design changes. Provide guidance and feedback during design reviews, ensuring feasibility and alignment with manufacturing processes and capabilities.
