Product Engineer, Networking and Optics

Google Google · Big Tech · Taipei, Taiwan

This role focuses on developing and manufacturing custom silicon solutions for Google's data center networking and optics hardware. The Product Engineer will be responsible for building, optimizing, and deploying hardware, defining manufacturing requirements, analyzing yield issues, and leading product qualification. While the role is within an AI and Infrastructure team, the core responsibilities are in hardware engineering and manufacturing, not direct AI/ML model development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build, optimize, and deploy Google data center networking and optics hardware in collaboration with global manufacturing partners.
  2. Define Design for Manufacturing (DFM) requirements and serve as the technical liaison between Design and Manufacturing teams.
  3. Analyze and root-cause manufacturing yield issues and field escapes, driving corrective measures with Google and partner engineering teams.
  4. Lead product qualification to improve multi-source rate and support capacity expansion at new product introduction (NPI) phases before transfer to sustaining.
  5. Be a manufacturing product owner through NPI and into production. Drive, support, and manage product changes to improve product design or manufacturing performance.
