This role is a Product Finance, Inference Capacity Lead at Anthropic. The primary focus is on providing financial expertise and guidance to product, engineering, and go-to-market teams, specifically concerning inference infrastructure costs and performance. The role involves detailed financial modeling, analysis, and the creation of novel unit economic metrics to support strategic decision-making and optimize major cost centers within the company's AI operations. While the company builds AI, this role is finance-focused, not directly building AI models or systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide expert guidance, recommendations, and influence to product, engineering, and go-to-market stakeholders on financial strategies, investments, and resource allocation decisions, leveraging an in-depth understanding of the company's financials
  2. Partner cross-functionally with senior engineering leaders and technical teams to drive detailed financial modeling and analysis, building sophisticated models to optimize inference infrastructure costs and performance
  3. Lead the creation and scaling of novel unit economic metrics for the business, including LTV, contribution margin, and other key performance indicators that enable data-driven decision-making
  4. Drive optimization initiatives and provide clarity into inference infrastructure costs, working to maximize efficiency of one of our largest P&L line items
  5. Partner cross-functionally to drive analysis, build financial models, and recommend business decisions across a variety of areas, such as pricing and packaging, business expansion, and defining new unit economic frameworks

Nice to have

  • 8+ years of experience across strategic finance, product finance, compute finance, investment banking, private equity, and growth equity
  • A combination of 5+ years in strategic finance, paired with several years prior across investment banking, private equity, or growth equity
  • Direct experience and strong interest in AI infrastructure
  • Background in AI, ML, or related technologies
  • Experience creating and scaling novel unit economic metrics and frameworks
  • Experience with consumption based and/or complex business models
