Product Manager for AI-powered tax products, focusing on automating tax calculation, validation, and filing, and expanding an agentic accounting product into the tax domain. Requires blending AI-native product development with domain expertise in tax and CPA workflows.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Ramp’s tax products, from foundational tax infrastructure to customer-facing calculation, reporting, and filing experiences.
  2. Build tax automation across Ramp’s existing products, including Cards, Bill Pay, Banking, and other financial workflows, for both domestic and international customers.
  3. Expand **Stack**, Ramp’s agentic accounting product, into tax by automating high-value CPA workflows such as data collection, workpaper preparation, review, filing, and client follow-up.
  4. Develop a deep understanding of finance teams, tax leaders, accountants, and CPAs, then translate their most painful manual workflows into focused product bets.
  5. Partner with engineering and data science to ship AI systems that are **reliable in production**, with clear evaluation methods, quality metrics, feedback loops, fallbacks, and human-in-the-loop controls.

Skills

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of product management or adjacent product-building experience.
  • Strong domain expertise in tax, accounting, or finance, with a practical understanding of how businesses or accounting firms calculate, review, report, and file taxes.
  • Strong product judgment and first-principles thinking across complex workflows, data products, integrations, and user experiences that drive real decisions.
  • AI fluency and passion, demonstrated through hands-on experience building AI features, prototypes, or side projects, plus an understanding of evaluation, retrieval, latency, cost, safety, and accuracy tradeoffs.
  • A track record of building products that require trust, including explainability, auditability, graceful degradation, and clear human controls.
  • Comfort collaborating in technical environments (Figma, Git) and using modern prototyping tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor).
  • Fluency with experimentation and product metrics, plus strong instincts for when qualitative customer discovery is required.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams with urgency and ownership, set direction, make tradeoffs, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate between tax experts, technical teams, and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience building tax calculation, compliance, reporting, or filing products for businesses, accountants, or tax professionals.
  • Familiarity with one or more tax domains such as sales and use tax, VAT/GST, 1099 filing, etc
  • Experience building AI-powered products used in production, including LLM workflows, agents, evaluation systemsr, or document understanding.
  • Experience with financial products, payments, accounting software, ERPs, or data integrations that support tax workflows.
  • Experience working with CPA firms, tax practices, or finance teams during tax preparation and filing cycles.
  • Experience at a high-growth startup, especially taking complex 0→1 products from initial concept to scaled adoption.
