What you'd actually do

  1. Own the product strategy and roadmap for YouTube’s user quality ranking systems. Deliver opportunities through ML algorithms, auction design, and relevance models to drive long-term business growth while protecting the user experience.
  2. Define key metrics for measuring ranking quality, relevance, and user impact. Design and analyze A/B tests and other experiments to evaluate changes and make data-driven decisions.
  3. Partner with engineering and data science teams to conceptualize, develop, and refine ranking models and algorithms. Understand the technical trade-offs and guide the development of signals and features that improve relevance and quality.
  4. Partner with ML and back-end engineering teams to build and deploy next-generation ranking models (e.g., deep learning, contextual signals, predictive engagement models).
  5. Develop an understanding of user needs, behaviors, and issues related to Ads on YouTube.
