Product Repair/modification Technician (associate, Experienced or Senior)

This role involves disassembling, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying spacecraft systems and components, including pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. It requires experience with engineering drawings, basic Microsoft Office, and potentially hand/power tools and human spaceflight hardware. The position is onsite at Kennedy Space Center and requires the ability to obtain a NASA badge.

What you'd actually do

  1. Disassembles systems components to support the correction of failures or implement changes
  2. Performs routine troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components
  3. Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components
  4. Inspects component before installation or usage to verify cleanliness and serviceability of components
  5. Fabricates and modifies aerospace products according to specifications

Skills

Required

  • Experience in the design, development, test, or manufacturing of spacecraft systems
  • Experience in fluid testing and/or mechanical testing
  • Experience reading, understanding, and interpreting basic engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems
  • Willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime

Nice to have

  • Experience working with hand and power tools such as drills, sanders and saws
  • Experience working with Human Spaceflight hardware
  • Experienced in the use of Electronic Work Order / Planning systems
  • Experienced in both electrical and mechanical calibration disciplines
  • Familiar with the following standards: ISO / IEC 17025 and ANSI / NCSL Z540.1 / Z540.3
  • Experience with electrical/electronic troubleshooting, routing, splicing, connectors, bundle dressing, etc
  • Experience as a mechanic working with structural, mechanical or other systems
  • Experience performing bench testing of Avionic and Electrical commercial/space aircraft components
  • Experience constructing wire harnesses and panels by cutting, sorting, color-coding, measuring, stripping, crimping, soldering, and routing various lengths, types, and gauges of wire, heat-shrink, and other related materials
