This role focuses on ensuring product safety and compliance with chemical regulations for Amazon's Private Brands. The manager will review global chemical regulations, assess their applicability to products, and implement requirements into Amazon's processes. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, providing chemical expertise to legal teams, reviewing technical product information, supporting compliance documentation, developing guidance, managing US state-level chemical regulations, and handling post-market incident management. The role requires knowledge of consumer product compliance and experience with specific chemical regulations like Proposition 65, VOC regulations, PFAS, REACH, and RoHS.

What you'd actually do

  1. Review new and emerging global chemical regulations to determine applicability to APB products, collaborate with internal teams to complete impact assessments, and implement applicable requirements into Amazon processes while minimizing compliance gaps.
  2. Work with cross-functional Amazon teams to complete chemical reporting requirements and develop innovative solutions to per-defined safety and compliance requirements using high-level process/system solutions
  3. Provide chemical expertise and technical guidance to legal teams on regulatory interpretations, upcoming regulation advocacies, and compliance complexities
  4. Review technical information about products (e.g., Safety Data Sheets, formulation data, lab reports) and advise business teams on next steps and compliance pathways
  5. Support internal teams with issues related to compliance documentation (e.g. SDS review, chemical inventory management, product safety investigations)

Skills

Required

  • Knowledge of consumer product compliance processes and regulations
  • 3+ years experience dealing with chemical regulations including: California Proposition 65, VOC regulations (CARB/OTC), PFAS restrictions, REACH, Food Contact Materials and RoHS directives

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
  • Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
  • 3+ years of implementing safety standards experience
  • Experience managing multi-jurisdictional chemical compliance programs, particularly harmonizing US state-level regulations with federal and global frameworks.
  • Experience with food contact material regulations (e.g., FDA 21 CFR, EU 1935/2004) and PFAS-related restrictions in packaging.
  • Usage of generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, with a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices
  • Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences
