Production Engineering Manager

Saronic · Defense · Austin, TX · Port Alpha

This role is for a Production Engineering Manager at Saronic, a company focused on maritime autonomy. The manager will lead the development of production engineering functions for shipyard manufacturing operations, defining build strategies, developing production processes, and ensuring vessel designs are compatible with facility capabilities. Key responsibilities include defining block construction strategy, heavy lift and transport engineering, and establishing production rules. The role also involves developing a Facilities Production Manual to guide engineering teams on design constraints and manufacturing rules. Success involves ensuring vessel designs align with manufacturing capabilities, defining executable block construction and erection sequences, standardizing scalable production processes, and achieving predictable production flow.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and maintain the shipyard’s production build strategy, including panelization, block construction, and erection sequencing.
  2. Develop engineering strategies for lifting, transporting, and erecting ship blocks and major modules.
  3. Develop standardized manufacturing processes for steel fabrication, block assembly, and erection.
  4. Lead development of the Facilities Production Manual, establishing design rules for engineering teams.
  5. Work closely with ship design teams to ensure production feasibility.
