Director of Production Operations for Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems Sector, responsible for leading manufacturing operations, improving efficiency, and driving performance to meet cost, quality, and schedule objectives. Requires knowledge of business acquisition, program lifecycle, manufacturing capabilities, supply chain, continuous improvement, and financial practices. Must have strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with experience in aerospace & defense industries and SAP/MRP systems. The role involves managing proposals, production planning, execution, financial aspects, and employee development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Primary Manufacturing Operations interface with the Program Office, Business Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management and Mission Assurance on all aspects of manufacturing programs
  2. Overall responsibility for managing proposals, production planning and execution of manufacturing programs, while monitoring and addressing all cost, schedule, performance, and quality issues
  3. Lead multifunctional teams, including Operations functional support organizations, to ensure all program and manufacturing goals and objectives are met
  4. Act as the key point of contact for senior leadership on all contract and program related matters
  5. Provide oversight and accountability for all operations related activities to ensure compliance with company objectives and obligations

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10 years relevant work experience
  • 5 years in a manufacturing environment
  • 5 years direct senior management experience
  • Aerospace & Defense industries experience
  • SAP and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems experience
  • Proposal development and program execution experience
  • Cost management experience
  • Financial management experience
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • US citizenship

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in STEM related discipline or MBA
  • Current Secret clearance
  • Progressive leadership experience in manufacturing/production, operations, program management, or related area
  • Manufacturing and or engineering processes, technologies, and programs experience
  • Experience in proposals, business development, acquisitions, and associated customer interactions
  • Product transition from development to production methodology and implementation experience
  • Experience in Manufacturing and Supply Chain
  • Strong customer domain knowledge
  • Experience supporting cross-sector initiatives and/or programs
