This role is for a Production Planner and Scheduler at Northrop Grumman, supporting manufacturing operations. The primary responsibilities include planning and controlling production schedules, coordinating material requirements, advising management on production status and potential issues, scheduling equipment and personnel, and coordinating inter-departmental activities. The role requires experience with production control principles, ERP systems, and the MRP process. It is not directly related to AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
  2. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
  3. Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
  4. Coordinates inter-departmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant work experience in operations planning and production scheduling (Level 2) or 5 years (Level 3)
  • Experience in MS Office Applications (exceptional use of Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Experience planning in an ERP system & familiar with the MRP process
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be a US citizen

  • Costpoint and/or SAP experience
  • CPIM- Certified in Planning and Inventory Management
  • Supply Chain experience
  • Manufacturing/Production line experience
  • Active US government security clearance
