Program Manager, Safety and Standards

This role is for a Program Manager focused on Safety and Standards within the Test and Evaluation (T&E) team at Anduril Industries, a defense technology company. The role involves establishing and overseeing team training, safety, and standard practices, ensuring compliance with DCMA, DoD, and ATF regulations, and managing safety trends. While the company utilizes AI and advanced technologies, this specific role is centered on safety, standards, and regulatory compliance within testing operations, not on the direct development or research of AI/ML models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as subject matter expert for rocket motors, explosives safety, and related flight operations.
  2. Monitor, interpret, and implement changes to rocket motor and explosives testing processes.
  3. Ensure timely communications to all stakeholders, internal and external.
  4. Lead internal readiness reviews related to developmental test safety and related flight test safety protocols.
  5. Develop, implement, and manage safety management system (SMS) and operational standards programs.

  • Knowledge of R&D test policy creation / writing.
  • Familiarity with US Military safety investigation processes.
  • Knowledge of training requirements, currency, and proficiency.
  • Experience with incident response / pre-accident planning.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Ability to travel on an as needed basis.

Nice to have

  • Military aviation and/or Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) background.
  • Experience in aviation flight instruction, flight standardization, and/or flight safety.
  • Prior Government Flight Representative (GFR), Government Ground Representative (GGR), or Contract Safety Representative (CSR) experience.
  • Familiarity with DoD Manual 4145.26 Contractor’s Safety Manual for Ammunition and Explosives.
  • Familiarity with DCMA 8210-1D Contractor’s Flight and Ground Operations
  • Familiarity with ATF regulations related to explosives.
  • UAS experience as either an operator or technician.
  • Formal safety training (DoD, ATF, FAA, military, etc.).
  • Familiarity with data analytics / statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with test / experimental processes.
  • Familiarity with the technical writing process.
