The Programador / Programadora de Producción at Caterpillar is responsible for supervising, scheduling, coordinating, and controlling production programs, as well as managing production order lifecycles. This role involves developing production plans, sequencing orders based on capacity and material availability, and ensuring operational excellence by monitoring workflow, inventory, and machinery. The position also requires analyzing and solving production scheduling problems, ensuring on-time delivery, and tracking key performance indicators. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and updating performance metric dashboards are also key responsibilities.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and maintain Production Plan and/or Line up according to demand, customer orders, and business priorities.
  2. Sequence production orders considering plant capacity, material availability, setup times, and operational restrictions.
  3. Direct production programs; review production staff workflow, inventory levels, capacity constraints, machinery failures, product quality, etc., to ensure operational excellence.
  4. Analyze and solve production scheduling problems such as bottlenecks, installed capacity, and efficiency, recommending process improvements to optimize planning.
  5. Ensure compliance with on-time delivery (OTD) objectives and minimize delays and obsolete inventory.

Skills

Required

  • Strong analytical thinking for production, materials, and planning challenges.
  • Ability to determine root cause of problems and create alternative solutions.
  • Develop successful solutions to critical or high-impact problems.
  • Knowledge of MRP systems.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Office 365, especially Excel (pivot tables, basic functions, and reports).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in supply chain and/or production.
  • Use of flowcharts, Pareto charts, Fish diagrams, etc.
  • Apply tools and techniques to clearly transmit and interpret ideas.
  • Understand the importance of effective communication in business success.
  • Effectively interact with customers and suppliers to anticipate and meet supply and demand requirements.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate teams and areas collaboratively.
