We’re searching for a Project Engineer**. **As a Project Engineer within the Hardware-Operations’ organization, you will lead the introduction of our autonomous vehicle at a contract upfitter during a critical period of rapid production ramp. This multidisciplinary role requires a self-sufficient professional capable of integrating mechanical and electromechanical systems into a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will serve as a vital technical bridge, frequently coordinating with Technical Program Management, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Production teams, both internally and externally, to ensure design intent is understood and operationally executed at scale.
This role is based on-site in Livonia (Detroit Metro) with occasional travel to Pittsburgh.
In this role you will
- Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results
- Monitor and enforce timelines, quality, and output ensuring that supplier facilities and deliverables are meeting Aurora's timelines, expectations, and requirements
- Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make progress reports and present findings.
- Guide supplier-related projects relative to products, policies, and continuous improvement
- Conduct multidisciplinary rapid problem-solving activities and propose solutions to both prototype and production manufacturing challenges, such as Design for Excellence (DfX) input, e.g., Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DfMA), Design for Service/Repair/Maintenance (DfS/R/M)
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience;
Desirable qualifications
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence and coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and inside stakeholders and engineers
- Experience with IATF 16949:2016 Automotive Quality Management Systems or similar, e.g., AS9100D:2016; ISO 13485:2016; ISO 9001:2015
- Green Belt certification or demonstrated experience using Lean / Six Sigma tools and similar methodologies, e.g., DMAIC, 8D, PDCA, QRQC, 4A.
- Experience interpreting technical requirements
- Experience leading Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
- Experience with advanced CAD, PLM, ERP, and MES software suites
The base salary range for this position is $112,000-$180,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
