This role is focused on building the engagement infrastructure for Anthropic's policy experts, developing and maintaining policy collateral, processes, and campaigns to strengthen policy influence. Responsibilities include drafting collateral, developing consensus on technical policy positions, serving as a strategic advisor, anticipating policy issues, managing collateral databases, leading campaigns, conducting policy research, coordinating messaging, managing internal workflows, and establishing metrics for impact. The role requires extensive experience in public affairs or policy communications, strong writing and research skills, cross-functional project management, and a track record of building processes from scratch.

What you'd actually do

  1. Draft and maintain a comprehensive set of internal and external policy collateral including one-page position summaries, technical FAQs, factsheets, talking points, and other written materials
  2. Develop and execute processes to build and maintain organizational consensus on technical policy positions, working with subject matter experts across federal affairs, state affairs, national security, and international affairs to synthesize viewpoints and refine language
  3. Serve as a strategic advisor and partner to federal, state, and international affairs teams to develop and execute bespoke public affairs strategies
  4. Anticipate emerging policy issues and proactively work with internal experts to develop Anthropic's perspective and supporting materials before external pressure emerges
  5. Maintain a curated database and organizational system for policy collateral that tracks versions, intended audiences, use cases, strategic relevance, and access
