Pump Mechanic I at Caterpillar's SPM Oil & Gas division, responsible for assembling, servicing, maintaining, evaluating, repairing, and installing reciprocating plunger pumps and related components. The role involves detailed inspection, root cause analysis, and adherence to safety and operational procedures.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assembles, services, maintains, evaluates, repairs, and installs reciprocating plunger pumps to include but not limited to gear boxes, power end assemblies and fluid end assemblies.
  2. Clean, strip and inspect all required components
  3. Assemble all components ensuring alignment and proper fit before bolting
  4. Troubleshoots, disassembles, and performs a detailed evaluation to determine repair needs and root cause analysis for the following: TWS 2250, QWS 2500, TWS 600 short, TWS 600 standard, QWS 1000, QEM 3000, WS 335
  5. Install various moving parts such as plungers, pins and bearings making sure to test for free movement

Skills

Required

  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas equipment
  • Pneumatic tooling
  • Hand tools
  • Ability to comprehend Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Risk Assessments
  • Utilize measuring equipment
  • Utilize all PPE

Nice to have

  • Millwright, Heavy Equipment Technician certifications, or currently enrolled in apprenticeship
  • Forklift or overhead crane certifications

What the JD emphasized

  • Required to bring necessary tools to perform assigned tasks such as pneumatic tooling, hand tools and a storage box
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Have a clean driving record, which generally means: No more than (2) moving violations within the last 12 months. No more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years.
