This role is for a Production Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer at Ford, focusing on ensuring the quality of vehicle production, particularly for the Mustang. The engineer will own functional warranty quality objectives, respond to plant/supplier issues, lead problem-solving for warranty issues, analyze claims, and support new program launches. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and experience in product development, manufacturing, or quality, with proficiency in structured problem-solving techniques.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own functional warranty quality objectives for the base function CPR & (R/1000, time to contain, time to resolve).
  2. Respond to plant/supplier issues before they leave assembly plants. Evaluate chronic and new warranty issues to push for cut off and resolution ASAP.
  3. Co-chair Variability Reduction Team (VRT) meetings and report-outs at the plant.
  4. Lead problem-solving, containment, and resolution of Interior 0-3 MIS and 36 MIS warranty.
  5. Analyze warranty claims and customer verbatims. Contact dealer technicians for repair information. On occasion travel to Dealers to review and root cause issues on vehicles.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in PD, manufacturing, and/or quality roles
  • Proficient in structured problem-solving techniques (8D, 3L5Y, DMAIC, Six Sigma, etc)
  • Knowledge of GSAR, IRIS, SIMPSN, and other quality tools
  • Highly motivated and capable of leading cross-functional resolution of quality issues
  • Capable of succinctly communicating issues/resolution to all levels of leadership.

Nice to have

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in PD, manufacturing, and/or quality roles
  • Six Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt certified
