Co-op role in Quality Engineering at Johnson & Johnson's MedTech division, focusing on supporting product design through testing, experimentation, verification, validation, statistical analysis, and risk management document creation. The role involves working with various engineering and regulatory teams in a New Product Development/R&D or Lifecycle/Sustaining Quality setting.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform testing, experimentation, verification, and validation to support product design.
  2. Assist in developing laboratory testing, interpreting data results, and recommending next steps.
  3. Learn and perform various statistical analysis techniques.
  4. Create and update risk management documents like FMEAs, Quality plans, and complaint analyses.
  5. Strengthen communication and leadership skills.

Skills

Required

  • Enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering or related field
  • Second year or above in school
  • Familiar with basic statistics concepts/terminology
  • Available to work Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship
  • Detail-oriented
  • Highly organized
  • Able to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Minimum G.P.A. of 3.00

Nice to have

  • Demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities
  • Previous quality engineering related experiences
  • Knowledge of FDA or regulatory guidance
  • Medical related experience
  • Advanced familiarity with statistics concepts/terminology
  • Understanding of risk management
  • Failure analysis/root cause understanding
  • Experience with statistics software (e.g. Minitab, Weibull/Reliasoft, SAS, etc.)
