What you'd actually do

  1. Conduct independent model validation and governance activities to mitigate model risk in the wealth management business.
  2. Engage in model validation activities and evaluate adherence to development standards including conceptual soundness of design, reasonableness of assumptions, reliability of inputs, completeness of testing, correctness of implementation, and suitability of performance metrics
  3. Identify weaknesses, limitations, and emerging risks through independent testing, building benchmarks, and ongoing monitoring activities
  4. Communicate risk assessments and findings to stakeholders, and document high quality technical reports
  5. Liaise effectively with model developers, Risk, and finance team. Offer guidance and support on model governance, validation standards, and regulatory expectations.

Skills

Required

  • Advanced degree (MSc, PhD, or equivalent) in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, financial engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of probability theory, stochastic processes, statistics, and numerical analysis, with demonstrated ability to apply these concepts to financial modeling and risk assessment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in model development or model validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an inquisitive mindset and the ability to formulate insightful questions, identify model limitations, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex quantitative concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficient programming skills in languages such as R, Python, SAS or similar.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and ownership, with a strong willingness to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
