Quantum Electrical Engineer - Systems Integration

Microsoft Microsoft · Big Tech · Lyngby, Denmark · Quantum Engineering

Seeking an Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design, simulation, and validation of RF and electronic components for a scalable quantum computing system. The role involves hands-on system integration in a research hardware environment, including developing measurement and analysis workflows, supporting hardware bring-up, and troubleshooting system performance. Requires experience in electrical engineering design, RF/EM/circuit simulation, measurements, and programming (Python).

What you'd actually do

  1. Contribute to the design and qualification of RF and electronic components
  2. Perform electromagnetic (EM) simulations of new designs, following best practices for documentation and data management
  3. Carry out time-domain and frequency-domain circuit simulations
  4. Develop and apply signal conditioning and calibration techniques for high-fidelity waveform generation and measurement
  5. Provide hands-on support for designing, assembling, and debugging hardware to improve overall system performance

Skills

Required

  • Basic principles of electrical engineering design
  • RF/Microwave, EM and circuit simulation (Ansys or Cadence tools)
  • Measurements experience: VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscopes
  • Programming (Python)

Nice to have

  • Low-noise electronic measurements (lockin amplifiers, analog pre-amps, etc.)
  • Cryogenic techniques (He3 cryostats or dilution refrigerators)
  • Electrical transport characterization (for semiconductors, dielectrics, and superconductors)
  • RF/microwave measurement techniques
  • Analog and digital circuit design
  • Digital signal processing
  • Developing code in a version-controlled environment

What the JD emphasized

  • Experience with RF/Microwave, EM and circuit simulation (Ansys or Cadence tools)
