This R&D Engineering Technician role focuses on building and testing optical systems for various platforms, fabricating electro-mechanical assemblies, managing rapid prototyping, and supporting internal and external testing. The role requires collaboration with engineers, hands-on assembly, troubleshooting, and basic electrical understanding.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work closely with development and test engineers to build and test new optical systems for airborne, maritime and space platforms
  2. Fabricate and assemble high quality, high reliability and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  3. Develop and implement integration and test fixtures; setup and use existing test equipment, monitor, and report the results.
  4. Own internal prototyping resources, including mechanical and electrical fabrication equipment
  5. Manage R+D space from a facilities and organizational standpoint

Skills

Required

  • complex electro-mechanical assemblies
  • building and troubleshooting cables and wiring harnesses
  • soldering, crimping, assembling cables and connectors
  • basic electrical understanding (voltage drop, wire sizing, Ohm's Law)
  • rapid prototyping process ownership
  • U.S. Secret security clearance
