This role is for a Regulatory and Litigation Counsel focused on AI Safety, providing legal guidance and managing responses to governments and regulators regarding AI technologies. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to address legal and policy questions at the intersection of AI innovation and regulatory scrutiny.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead responses to regulatory inquiries, investigations, and enforcement actions.
  2. Oversee the collection and production of accurate information in external submissions and disclosures.

Skills

Required

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
  • 7 years of experience with legal, regulatory and litigation matters, including addressing, minimizing, and avoiding regulatory risk.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

Nice to have

  • 10 years of experience with legal, regulatory or corporate compliance, including strategically addressing, minimizing and avoiding regulatory risk.
  • Experience in engaging with regulators, including State attorneys general, Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice, and global digital media, content, or consumer protection authorities.
  • Experience advising on laws/regulations governing AI models and systems, like the EU AI Act, US state legislation, executive orders and related global legislation.
  • Experience working with technology companies and ability to understand complex technical issues.
  • Experience with managing projects and partnering with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, analytical, and investigative skills.
