Regulatory Compliance Engineer – Electrical Safety

NVIDIA is seeking a Lead Regulatory Compliance Engineer focused on electrical safety for their products. The role involves ensuring products meet safety standards through design, testing, debugging, and certification, including market entry requirements, design consultancy, and permitting. Responsibilities include developing safety design guides, conducting risk assessments, writing compliance requirements, managing testing and certification plans with external labs, and staying updated on industry trends and regulations. The role also requires representing the company in industry forums and researching new technologies and regulatory requirements.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop reasonable and cost-effective safety design guide for product in compliance with UL/IEC 62368-1, IEC 62477, IEC 60065, CNS 15598-1 and other relevant standards.
  2. Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to pinpoint safety issues in product designs.
  3. Write Compliance Product Design Requirements summarizing safety compliance requirements and collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., Architecture Engineer, EE, Layout Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Thermal Engineer, Verification Engineer, Operations) to incorporate safety considerations into product development.
  4. Develop and implement safety testing and certification plans, coordinate with government-accredited laboratories, optimize testing processes for efficient execution, review test data and reports to ensure successful certification, assist customers, and troubleshoot any issues.
  5. Review and approve design changes to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in electronics, electrical engineering, communications, or computer applications or equivalent experience.
  • Solid background in safety design, testing, and certification.
  • Proficiency in safety design, testing, and certification of power supply, battery backup unit, high-power server products.
  • Familiarity with safety certification processes in various countries like CB/UL/TUV/CCC/PSE/BSMI/BIS.
  • A profound understanding of electrical safety standards, along with a thorough comprehension of the underlying considerations behind the requirements of their provisions and a deep knowledge of safety regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in component standards for safety including: UL796/UL796F, UL746E/UL746A/UL746B/UL746F, UL1434/IEC60730-1, UL2367, IEC60127/UL248, IEC60269, IEC62477, UL1449, UL810A, UL/IEC60384-14, UL817/UL62, UL758, UL498/UL1682, UL94/UL1581, UL1642, UL2054, and IEC62133

Nice to have

  • Direct, practical experience as an Evaluator, Reviewer at one or more of the following NRTLs: UL, TÜV Rheinland, TÜV SÜD, CSA Group, Intertek (ETL), SGS, or equivalent accredited laboratories.
  • Advance certifications (e.g., UL Master Evaluator, or equivalent from other NRTLs)
  • Experience with high-voltage DC (e.g., 800VDC) power systems, including design, compliance, or safety evaluation.
  • Familiarity with energy storage systems (ESS), battery safety standards (e.g., IEC 62619, UL 9540), and grid-connected applications.
