Reliability Systems Engineer - Level 3

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Reliability Systems Engineer (Level 3) to support availability, reliability, and timeliness tasking, including modeling, simulation, assessment, and metric tracking. Responsibilities include design tradeoffs, reliability predictions, de-rating analysis, FMEA, and identifying critical items. The role requires interpreting system architectures and schematics, developing solutions to reliability problems, and applying probability and statistical principles. A STEM degree with relevant experience is required, along with active SCI clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as the Availability and Timeliness Thread lead responsible for supporting availability, reliability, and timeliness tasking, which includes modeling, simulation, assessment, and technical performance metric (TPM) tracking
  2. Perform various reliability related tasks including: leading reliability support to the design team through the performance of design tradeoffs, reliability predictions/assessments, de-rating analysis, allocation of reliability requirements, failure rate estimation/assessments, performing/facilitating Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), facilitate identification of critical items and documentation of controls/mitigations, and provide support to design reviews and failure investigations.
  3. Ability to understand and interpret system/unit architectures, electrical schematics/drawings, functional block diagrams, and accurately create reliability block diagrams and availability models.
  4. Ability to develop technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems.
  5. Adapt with probability and statistical tools/principles to recognize and solve problems involving non-standard configurations/definitions of system success.

Skills

Required

  • STEM degree
  • 5+ years of engineering experience (or Master's with 3+, PhD with 1+)
  • Reliability predictions/assessments
  • Failure rate estimation/assessments
  • Availability analysis

  • Familiarity with modeling/simulation software tools for Reliability analysis
  • Understanding and interpreting electrical schematics/drawings
  • Creating reliability block diagrams

  • Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years

  • Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering degree
