Research Assistant (phd)

Meta's FAIR lab is seeking PhD candidates for 3-year fixed-term contracts to conduct fundamental AI research in areas like foundational models, LLMs, deep learning, computer vision, audio/speech, NLP, RL, and applied math. The work is expected to be open science and open source, with joint supervision from Meta and academic partners.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent systems
  2. Perform research that improves computational understanding and representation of data
  3. Devise data-driven models of human behavior
  4. Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications
  5. Collaborate and increase productivity on existing research projects

Skills

Required

  • Masters degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
  • Knowledge in Machine Learning
  • Experience programming in at least one language (e.g., Python, C++, or Java)
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
  • Experience building systems based on machine learning and/or deep learning methods
  • Research and software engineer experience demonstrated via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or open-source contributions

Nice to have

  • Knowledge in Python, PyTorch, SciKit-Learn, C++, C, C# and/or Java
