This role involves fabricating, assembling, and testing components for prototype aircraft instrumentation and ordnance equipment. Responsibilities include setting up and operating flight test equipment, fabricating wire bundles, performing various environmental tests, and handling hazardous materials. The role requires experience with mechanical and electrical workflows, reading engineering drawings, and fabricating electrical wiring harnesses.

What you'd actually do

  1. Fabricate, assemble, and test components of prototype aircraft instrumentation and ordnance equipment
  2. Set up and operate required flight test equipment (e.g., wire bundles, sensors, strain gages) to perform functional or environmental tests on production and/or experimental
  3. Obtain appropriate engineering drawings and test documents, as required, for assignment if drawings, sketches, and documents are not with work order
  4. Fabricate wire bundles used to connect various types of flight test computer equipment together, for the purpose of collecting and storing data during test flights
  5. Perform tests such as vibration, thermal, humidity, or altitude using various computer systems, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and meters of various types under direction of lead and/or engineering. Install thermocouples, accelerometers, and strain gauges by soldering, bonding, or using mechanical fastening devices

Skills

Required

  • Experience with mechanical and electrical workflow
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineer drawings and technical data
  • Experience fabricating, installing, routing, terminating, soldering, and repairing electrical wiring harnesses; or any variety of electrical components, and associated equipment
  • 1+ year of experience working with hazardous materials

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, kneeling and lifting
