This role is for a Risk Associate on the Corporate Insurance team at Capital One. The primary focus is on managing insurance risk, including overseeing insurance policies, handling financial aspects like payments and budgets, administering claims, and managing policy renewals. The role also involves team operations and organization, such as document management and quality assurance processes. It requires strong communication, analytical skills, and a willingness to learn about insurance and risk management. Experience in corporate insurance, finance, or project management is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Help keep our team organized and running smoothly. This involves maintaining essential documents and digital files (like shared drives and the intranet page), helping prepare for internal audits by enhancing quality assurance (QA) processes, and keeping our team standards up to date. You may also lead team meetings or meetings with our insurance broker
  2. Act as a key point of contact for tracking all insurance payments and assisting with budget management. You will coordinate payment tracking with our insurance broker and finance teams
  3. Support the claims lead by managing the claims inbox. This includes reviewing incident reports, reporting new claims (like worker's compensation and general liability) into our system, responding to questions from claim adjusters, identifying loss trends and recommending methods of hazard remediation, and participating in periodic claim reviews
  4. Help manage the yearly renewal of major insurance policies, such as those for management liability and cyber risk. This involves tracking renewal milestones, organizing data for the insurance broker, coordinating meetings with internal partners or the insurance broker, obtaining necessary leadership approvals, and maintaining complete policy documentation
  5. Handle requests for official Certificates of Insurance (proof of coverage) from internal partners, ensuring they are processed and tracked quickly and accurately
