Stripe is seeking a Risk Operations Analyst to manage risk relationships with global payment method, card, and financial partners. The role involves building operational controls to mitigate user and partner risk, identifying and assessing regulatory and contractual risks, and influencing operational teams to build scalable processes for compliance and risk mitigation. Responsibilities include evaluating merchants, identifying trends to enhance detection systems, contributing to due diligence strategy systems, and identifying gaps in current systems and policies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Demonstrate sound judgment and an ability to navigate non-binary, high-risk decisions
  2. Evaluate merchants, from successful venture-backed startups to well established institutions by assessing suitability to process on Stripe
  3. Adhere closely to process while still constantly questioning assumptions, suggesting improvements, and following up implementation of those improvements
  4. Effectively and clearly communicate, including with other Stripes, Stripe's users, and Stripe's financial partners
  5. Identify trends and further report these to cross functional teams to enhance detection systems
  6. Contribute to projects to enhance and optimize due diligence strategy systems and tools
  7. Help build and scale processes across the risk operations eco-system
  8. Identify gaps in current systems, policies and strategies, and recommends enhancements and process improvements to mitigate emerging risks through a collaborative approach with stakeholders

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, or operations in a fast moving environment
  • Experience scaling operational processes and driving quantifiable improvements
  • Experience working cross-functionally on complex problems
  • Ability to use data to quantify problems, tell a story, and influence a solution
  • Ability and desire to challenge the status quo
  • Creative thinker who considers problems from a customer perspective while being pragmatic and solutions oriented when solving them
  • Can analyze feedback patterns and use these insights to drive process and tooling improvements
  • High ownership, accountability, and drive towards ambitious goals
