Risk Operations Specialist, Payments

This role supports the daily execution and efficiency of Ramp's payment operations, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth payment processing, issue resolution, and operational excellence. It involves monitoring, reconciling, coordinating, and participating in projects to improve payment systems and risk management, with an emphasis on using AI tools for productivity and decision-making.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support the Payments Operations Lead in the daily management of payment workflows, including ACH, wire transfers, card payments, and Ramp Business Account transactions.
  2. Monitor and reconcile payment activity, identify discrepancies, and help investigate or resolve transaction issues.
  3. Coordinate refund and money movement processes and maintain clear communication with internal teams and customers on case status.
  4. Collaborate with Customer Support, Risk, and Product to resolve user-reported payment or linking issues in a timely and accurate manner.
  5. Help prepare data and documentation for audits and regulatory reporting.

Skills

Required

  • 2–4 years of experience in Payment Operations, Financial Operations, Treasury Operations, or a related function.
  • Working knowledge of ACH, wire transfers, and card payment systems
  • Experience using and building with AI tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, or support operational decision-making.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort handling complex reconciliations or operational workflows.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to coordinate across teams and document processes clearly.
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a focus on data accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience working in fintech, payments, or high-growth startup environments.
  • Familiarity with SQL or basic data analysis tools for investigating issues or building reports.
  • Exposure to risk or compliance operations.
  • Experience with customer support systems (e.g., Zendesk, Salesforce)
